![]() Maryland Competition Riders (MCR) is
a nonprofit organization made up of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts. We draw our members primarily from the
Baltimore, Md metropolitan area, although we do have members from outside the area.
The focus of MCR is to promote the sport of off-road motorcycle racing and riding. MCR was founded in 1968. Our goal is being able to benefit the sport by indentify riding areas, sponsoring competitions, fun events, and promoting public awareness programs. The aim always has been to provide high quality riding experiences for our members. Many of our members ride every weekend. Sometimes these are informal club rides where all members are invited. These are held at various locations, over a variety of terrain and again, the emphasis is on fun. Club members volunteer to lead these rides and also share some of their riding areas. MCR hosts several formal events each year: - Spring: The Cow Patty Hare Scramble in April, District 7 Points Gold Series. With the variety of competitions, dual sports, fun rides, and diversity of riding areas, there are events for riders of every age and skill level. Many of our members are active competition riders and compete in enduros, hare scrambles and motocross. Others prefer to just ride for fun: dual sports, club rides and weekend adventures. We realize that the future of off-road riding is dependent upon the participation and support of future generations. Our youth events are a way to engage up-and-coming riders , and teach them about their responsibility to conserve the sport of off road riding and racing. Our members believe in riding in a safe and responsible manner so that we can protect ourselves and our riding opportunities. We stress that our bikes are properly equipped and well maintained as well as ridden in an appropriate manner. MCR is a club run by its members for its members, and as such, the club activities are constantly being adjusted to match our own needs. The routine business of the club is conducted by the elected officers, with the concurrence of the members. MCR meets for one to two hours on the third Thursday of each month at 8:00PM. These meetings include club business and a program of general interest - as well as a chance to just hang out with fellow trailhounds. Prospective members are encouraged to attend. Monthly meetings are currently held in Randallstown, Md. Please go to the contact page on the www.mdcompriders.org website to contact an officer for meeting location because it is subject to change. New members and guests are always welcome to attend! As an MCR member, you'll meet people with similar interests, enjoy various trail rides and events, and have fun! Like any group, the more you participate, the more fun you can have. |
